Math for Plumbers
•
Measure twice, cut once. How many times have we heard our grandfather or father say this? The adage is a great one and if practiced, saves time and money. Today there are many new measuring devices on the market utilizing digital readouts and laser beams. Whether you use a standard metal tape measure or one of these new instruments, measuring is just a small part of the number scene in plumbing. Angles, bends, slopes, rises and runs all require mathematical knowledge to make the many calculations a plumber will encounter. These calculations maybe as simple as converting fractions to decimals, or as complex as square root and right triangle functions. Today advanced calculators and computers can do these advanced calculations with input from the plumber. Basic Plumbing Math
